You really have to know the show

This is for the people who love the show and probably have watched the episodes again and again and again. It is great fun for the trivia buffs who already have the trivia in their heads. There isn't enough information if you don't. That being said, it's a nice rainy day game for the New Who fan.

After a hard day teaching the reproductive system to his high school students all Tom Crawford wanted to do was go home and rest. His friends tried to convince him to go out with them to visit the local clubs, but instead he selected to spend a quiet night at home.

Tom’s quiet night turned into one of horror when he is struck by a van. As he feels his car spin out of control he tries to brace himself for the final impact. Before he realizes what the extent of his injuries will be, he is plunged into a world of darkness.

Talia is an Emergency Nurse; she loves her job for she has always wanted to be able to help others. Her latest patient comes in a PennSTAR Medi Vac; she learns that he has been involved in a serious car accident. Her patient is covered in blood and has suffered massive injuries. The worse seems to be the trauma to his left leg. Talia quickly prepares him for the scans and x-rays the doctor orders, as she works on the patient she feels there is something about him that seems familiar.

When Talia gets a moment away from her job, she goes to find out the identity of her gravely injured patient. She is shocked to learn that he is a close friend of hers, Tom Crawford. She calls in their other friends to alert them to what has happened to Tom. The group comes together to pray for Tom’s recovery.

When the surgeon finally comes to tell them of Tom’s condition, they learn that they were not able to save his left leg. Talia knows the loss will be devastating for his life revolves around sports and spending time partying with his friends.

With Tom having no family to take care of him, his friends question how they will be able to rearrange their schedule to help out their friend. Talia makes the ultimate sacrifice, and offers to stay with Tom three weeks after he is released.

Tom doesn’t want to be a burden on his friends. He knows his recovery will be a long drawn out process. He questions why Talia would give up three weeks of vacation to move in and care for him. Before the accident he wanted to find a way to spend more time with Talia and get to know her better; now it seems the fates have intervened and granted his wish in a way he never would have expected.

Will Talia be able to convince him that his injury has no effect on how she feels for him? With Talia seeing Tom at his ultimate worse in life will he be able to believe that such a beautiful woman as her could love such a damaged man as himself?

A PART OF ME – BOOK 2 IN THE PHILADELPHIA SERIES is a wonderful romance. I found it very refreshing that the book is written from both Talia and Tom’s separate perspective. This allows the readers to discover the emotions of each character. Although this book is part of a series, I was able to read it without reading the first book. With elements of tragedy, heartbreak, and hope this book contains the substance that makes it an outstanding novel.

I read a lot. A. Lot. I often find books that I recommend to my friends, and this is definitely one of them (the whole three-book series, actually). But it's rare that I finish a book wanting to actually be a part of it. This group of friends was written so well that I feel like I actually know them. The writing was fantastic. The relationships grew realistically. It's worth the money and the time - buy it, you'll see!

I really, really LOVE this Authors writing style! Its very fast paste, non-boring! She is also very witty and things tend to get steamy!!!

So in the first book of this series we were introduced to Talia and Tom as secondary characters to Ava and Trevor. How cool is it that the "boys" seem to be getting their own books? Is Nick next? I'll find out with Part 3 (Out of My Element.) I SO can't wait to find out!

Okay so I totes got sidetracked, back to where I was... Oh yea, so we meet Talia and Tom and they were like really funny! Especially Talia!!! If ever a girl crush, from a fictional standpoint, I'd pick Talia! She has the most humorous personality, EVER! She's a softy. We also get to see what is happening with Trevor and Ava. I'm happy that the Author didn't just chop them out completely and switch the side-characters to main. The back and fourth POV of both guy and girl is still there. Its written well! THANK YOU TARYN for finally writing a guys POV that didn't SUCK the life out of a book! They usually go super cheesy or borderline feminine, not that that's bad... its just... I don't know. I guess I really like the guys to be bad boys with warm hearts!

Not what I thought it would be

I decided to read this book prior to introducing it to my daughter. The artwork is beautiful but for a 10 year old girl, the writing is entirely too simple, more on the level of a 1st-2nd grader. There is no development of characters, it's more like a pamphlet than a book. I went to the book's Facebook page and it's looks like this book should be the Essential Guide that is advertised on there and not the first book in the actual series. While I am disappointed with this purchase, I still look forward to seeing how the series turns out.

Amazing

I first was attracted to the story by the art; it is just so beautifully done. While reading the story to mg grand-daughter I began to enjoy the whole plot and loved how it just kept my grand-daughter was so still listening as I read to her each new page. The thing kidding like was that the story ended too soon, that is all.

PROFESSOR IAN PLIMER (The University of Adelaide) is Australia’s best-known geologist. He is also Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at The University of Melbourne where he was Professor and Head of Earth Sciences (1991-2005) after serving at The University of Newcastle (1985-1991) as Professor and Head of Geology. He was on the staff of the University of New England, The University of New South Wales and Macquarie University. He has published more than 120 scientific papers on geology. This is his eighth book written for the general public, the best known of which are Telling lies for God (Random House), Milos-Geologic History (Koan), A Short History of Planet Earth (ABC Books) and his best-selling Heaven+Earth (Connor Court).

He won the Leopold von Buch Plakette (German Geological Society), Clarke Medal (Royal Society of NSW), Sir Willis Connolly Medal (Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy), was elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and was elected Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society of London. In 1995, he was Australian Humanist of the Year and later was awarded the Centenary Medal. He was Managing Editor of Mineralium Deposita, president of the SGA, president of IAGOD, president of the Australian Geoscience Council and sat on the Earth Sciences Committee of the Australian Research Council for many years. He won the Eureka Prize for the promotion of science, the Eureka Prize for A Short History of Planet Earth and the Michael Daley Prize (now a Eureka Prize) for science broadcasting. He is an advisor to governments and corporations and a regular broadcaster.

Covers the usual ground of the dissenters but in a tiresome manner

While the objective is to educate school children on the dissenter position to claims of catastrophe by CO2, it is written in a crushingly repetitive style that takes up too much space with advocacy that buries the science. If it had stuck to a well organized set of science based objections it could have been done in half of the pages. The idea of questions to ask the teacher is a good one and there are many good questions. But even here it is overkill and in this age of ADD is unlikely to hold the attention of most students. This needs to be redone and field tested with the intended readership. I bought this book because of Plimer's earlier effort but I was disappointed with this one. This is a very important undertaking but it needs to be redone into something more succinct.
