Author unwittingly assassinates characters

I finished this story in an hour; it's very short. It starts out with an interesting premise: two solo employees (a woman and a man) from rival companies work alone on separate space stations orbiting the same planet. Lonely, they meet online for chat sex. The writing is clean, the pacing somewhat slow. There is an interesting challenge that comes up (don't want to spoil it). But when they've just barely addressed it, the story ends. No conclusion. Even worse, just before the cliff hanger, the author commits a major faux pas.
Romance novels are based on the evolving relationship between the hero and heroine, two characters the reader likes and roots for. In Collaterol Damage, it's suddenly revealed that the leads aren't what they were presented to be. They're untrustworthy. This caused me, as a reader, to feel mislead. Character development was already limited and focused mostly on their mutual sexual attraction.

thougt i had it all figured out by the 2nd chapter , was fooled turned out to have more twists than a carolina side road,nothing was as it seamed,made for a good read ,left me wanting for the sequil

scifi adventure romance

A story about two people set in the future where corporations can make you or break you. 2 people, rivals, working in the depths of space with no real physical contact with other human beings, find each other. What's a person to do? What comes naturally, of course ;) There's intrigue, betrayals, heroism, romance, explosions, there's a lot to like. However, this is a just a short little foray into this world. I enjoyed the characters and there is the beginning of some world building. My biggest complaint is that it ended to soon. I want to know what happens now!
