In Michael F. Blake's novel THE HOLY CITY you are drawn into a the dark criminal element that exists on the streets of Chicago, in an area called The Holy City. There survival of the fittest is the rule of the day, and for brothers Marcus and Christopher there are hard choices to be made. You can choose to either join a side on the streets are try to rise above it, hoping you don't become part of the collateral damage of the war.
For Marcus is choice seems like a clear one: the streets offer him respect and a chance at the only kind of life he feels he can have. He takes his place among the movers and the shakers in the criminal world, but wants something better for his younger brother. Christopher, on the other hand, has a real chance of making something out of himself. He can either decide to work hard and go for the greatness that is in front of him or give in to the world that has sucked in his brother and fight for survival there.
In this book we are able to see that no matter where you are from your destiny has alot to do with your choices and the way you look at the world and your place in it. You can either choose to let the negativity draw you in or fight to rise above it and be the best of yourself.
This is the beginning of a trilogy so I suspect we'll get to know more about Christopher's decisions and where the two brothers go from here. In the meantime, this is a great beginning to a story that is sure to please readers of urban literature adn those who are just looking for a great read.

Holy City by Micheal F. Blake was well written it was descriptive and engaging. I read this book in a few hours. Being from Chicago it was very easy to relate to. Extraordinary job my man look forward to the next.
