A Wealth of Information for the Neophyte...

Despite the marketing title of the book, this was a very, very good and comprehensive nonfiction manual to help those who have developed a healthy curiosity into the world of kink.
Tristan has developed a flair for developing BDSM guides, and she definitely does not miss the mark with this one, which combines a lot of the information that someone who would attend a Kink 101 class at a convention into a succinct, concise collection. While her other guide, The Ultimate Guide to Kink, is something that I would recommend to those who have been in the scene for a period of time and are looking for something to take things to the next level, I would highly recommend it for those who have entered the shallow end of the kink pool,
Bravo, Ms. Taormino, bravo...this is more sorely needed than the more popular fiction that is out there right now.
Whether you're new, or you've been doing this for years, this is something you should have in your library.

Fantastic Book for Beginners!!

As a more advanced practitioner of kink, I read this with a different eye. It's an EXCELLENT source for beginners. I was very impressed with Tristan's explanations, with the referrals to other books, and websites, and with the good overall presentation of information. She covers more than just the things one should place in a toy bag, (although that is covered). There is a huge focus on consent and communication, which are the cornerstones of any relationship, not just a kinky one. I will definitely be recommending this to people just entering the BDSM lifestyle as a strong reference book. It's easy to read and not intimidating at all.

Good read for the curious

As an introduction and overview for the curious it is good. Contains useful hints and helpful advices for everyone who seriously minds about to begin with and what. Between the lines it says that women are more open to BDSM and its lifestyles than men. Being an introduction the booklet does not question and answer the Whys? for that.
