She is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Indeed, to this day, the land that produces the world's choicest Champagne, cheese and chocolat-not to mention haute fashion by Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Lanvin-shows no sign of loosening her très chic grip on the planet's tastemakers.

Disappointed...

I LOVE Betty Lou Phillips but I was so disappointed in this book. It is pretty inside but everything looks so new & staged and not lived in. Not much inspiration and just the same old same old. There are a few good pages with good pictures but too much children's rooms and not enough fresh and new looks & ideas.
I will buy anything Betty Lou publishes but.......even the cover was nothing special. It seems like she is stuck between old world style and contemporary and can't decide which way to go. This book is a long way from the fresh and exciting first books of hers. When I buy her books I want to see more old world French & Italian lived-in style (American interpretations that is) with fewer words and less bright colorful children's rooms.
I looked at the book once and didn't feel compelled to pick it up again...I am sad to say.
Sorry Betty Lou....we KNOW you can do better.

Betty Lou has done better.....

I have purchased just about all of this author's books, and I find this one a bit disappointing. I purchase desgin books as reference material, and I prefer to see entire rooms illustrated, not just the details. I certainly appreciate antique hardware as works of art, but I don't want to see close-up shots of them in a book, I can view those on-line. I gave this book three stars because it is beautifully written, and the photos are great, but the overall content left me feeling disappointed.

Extremely dissappointed

I was expecting at least a comparision of the two styles but I got a book that is more history lesson (much of it repeated from her prior books) or more suited to be used as a tour guide. The actual rooms were few and far between and I'm certainly not interested in mud-rooms, laundry-room cabinet knobs and the like. Not at all her usual lovely book. And no, I do not decorate caves as one reviewer suggested might be the case if a reviewer did not like this book.
