A must read, an overview, of a serious problem in families, written by a professional in the field.

A difficult subject such as incest is hard to cover in a "short read." But this author has done an admirable job as an overview to the problem. This is not a book put together by "copy and paste." The author is a Ph.D. and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She has also written at least a few dozen other books, some of them quite "heavy" in education and social issues. And some of them a little lighter. I also look forward to reading her several books of poems.
But this book. Just to know that there are families around you where children are being molested, and the other members are impacted terribly, either now or will be in the future. The wounds of incest don't heal easily. This book also has several stories of families, and how incest was initiated and covered up. It's good for us to know that, especially if we have children or work with children.
So this is a must read for just about every adult.

A really well written piece, especially for someone new to this sensitive topic. For someone with an interest in psychotherapy, psychiatry, or is looking to fully understand this how this coercive paraphilia affects perpetrators, victims, and their family, this is a good informational read. It offers very good statements of perps/victims which really aid in facilitating understanding of their mind-sets.

This is not a book but the an excerpt from a longer study. The information however was timely and presented the user with correct well researched information on the issues of the victims of incest.
In incest the most innocent and vulnerable members of our society are victimized and the perpetrators are often pardoned and the issue trivialized.
It often appears that this is a man's world and all others, be it children or women, are here to pander to his distorted needs.
